Latin name: Pinus sylvestris
Description of plant: An evergreen, loose, woody bush, 4–5 feet high, with blue flowers in the spring
Nature of oil: Colourless to pale yellow liquid. The aroma is slightly camphoraceous with a woody balsamic undertone
Method of oil extraction: Steam distillation of the needles
Blends well with: Basil, cedarwood, citrus essential oils, coriander, frankincense, lemongrass, lavender, peppermint, petitgrain, pine
Specific precautions required: Toxicity when used orally. Use sparingly. Avoid during pregnancy
Stress-relieving properties include: Strengthening; good for nervous exhaustion, overwork, strain, mental fatigue, and other stress-related disorders, loss of memory; provides energy, creativity, clarity, concentration
